Welcoming Wabbit Our Adorable Black / Blue Faced Leicester Lamb with the Biggest Ears and even bigger personality

Bringing a new pet into the family is always a special moment, but welcoming our lamb Wabbit has added a unique kind of joy to our farm. At just two weeks old, Wabbit is already showing a playful personality that brightens every day. She belongs to the Blue Faced Leicester breed, known for their distinctive features and friendly nature. This post shares Wabbit’s story, her charming traits, and the daily routines that help her thrive.

Discovering the Blue Faced Leicester Breed

Wabbit is a Blue Faced Leicester lamb, a breed that stands out for several reasons. Originating in the United Kingdom, this breed is prized for its wool quality and distinctive appearance. The most noticeable feature is their large, expressive ears that give them a curious and alert look. Their faces have a unique blueish tint caused by the fine network of veins visible through their pale skin, which is where the breed gets its name.

Blue Faced Leicesters are known for their gentle temperament and intelligence. They adapt well to different environments. Wabbit’s breed traits make her not only beautiful but also a joy to care for.

Wabbit’s Unique Features and Personality

From the moment Wabbit arrived, her large ears caught everyone’s attention. They seem almost too big for her small head, These ears aren’t just adorable—they help her stay alert to sounds around her, a useful trait for a young lamb learning about her surroundings.

At only two weeks old, Wabbit is full of energy and curiosity. She loves to explore the yard, and she quickly responds to voices and gentle touches. Watching her interact with other animals and people reveals a sweet and trusting nature.

The Bottle-Feeding Routine That Keeps Wabbit Healthy

Since Wabbit is still very young, she relies on bottle feeding several times a day. This routine is essential for her growth and health. We use lamb milk replacer that provides all the nutrients she needs.

The feeding times are moments of bonding. Wabbit recognizes the bottle and eagerly approaches when it’s time. She drinks steadily, sometimes pausing to look around with those big ears twitching. Bottle feeding also allows us to monitor her intake closely and ensure she stays hydrated and strong.

Here’s a typical feeding schedule for Wabbit:

  • Morning feeding around 6:00 AM

  • Midday feeding at 11:00 AM

  • Afternoon feeding near 4:00 PM

  • Late feeding 8.00 PM

  • Last feed before bed 12.00 MIDNIGHT

Each feeding lasts about 10 to 15 minutes, and afterwards, Wabbit usually likes to lay down at the side of me for a 15 minute cuddle and goes into a milky sleep, she loves you singing to her till her eyes get really heavy. We have her in a nice warm stable with Minty and Wilma our Valais Blacknose ewes who she loves and its so nice because Minty and Wilma were bottle fed lambs also, but are now rather huge but are still very kind to little Wabbit .

Adorable Dog Coats That Fit Wabbit Perfectly

One of the cutest parts of having Wabbit around is dressing her in tiny dog coats. These coats keep her warm during chilly nights. Because Blue Faced Leicester lambs have short wool at this age, the coats protect her from cold drafts and damp weather.

We chose coats designed for small dogs because they fit Wabbit’s frame well. They are lightweight, easy to put on, and come in bright colours that make her easy to spot on the yard. Seeing her prance around in these coats is adorable.

Wabbit’s arrival has brought so much happiness that we want to share it with others. Visitors are always welcome to come meet her and experience the joy of having a young lamb around. Interacting with Wabbit is a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn about animal care.

If you plan to visit The Little Farm Of Chaos, here are a few tips to make the experience enjoyable for both you and Wabbit:

Meeting Wabbit is not just about seeing a cute lamb; it’s about sharing moments of warmth, laughter, and learning.
